ÖZEL YETENEKLİ ÇOCUKLAR İÇİN CİNSELLİK EĞİTİMİ: DURUMLAR VE HESAPLAŞMALAR

This study aims to determine the state of sexuality education in our country and to understand the reflections of these situations on gifted children. If a qualified sexuality education program is to be developed for gifted children, this field, where taboos, ignorance and legal crimes are intense, should be subjected to a critical thinking filter. Within this framework, the situations identified are as follows: (1) There is no standard sexual education policy in Turkey. (2) Families do not have sufficient knowledge about sexual education. (3) Sexual crime rates are increasing day by day. Based on this, the related reckonings took place under the following observations: (1) Educational institutions prioritize academic achievement over the social-emotional needs of individuals. (2) If sexuality education is to be provided, it is thought to be in the context of religious and cultural sensitivity. (3) While certain attitudes are tried to be developed under the understanding of sexual education, opposite attitudes can be displayed within the same school. (4) There are many areas of conflict regarding sexuality as it is considered taboo; however, such conflicts are not addressed in the trainings. (5) Providing sexual education in schools leads families to believe that it will reinforce sexual behaviors in their children. After such a detailed process of reckoning, liberating, multilateral, scientific, observational and experimental courses in sexuality education should be developed in our country.
