Resilience Assessment of Distribution Networks Considering EV Charging Loads under Extreme Heat

Conducting resilience assessment of the distribution networks is essential for enhancing the overall stability of power systems. Addressing the impact of extreme heat and electric vehicle(EV) charging loads on distribution networks, this paper develops a multi-segment quasi-steady-state power flow analysis to assess system resilience. A probabilistic model is developed to characterize the state transitions of cable operation, enabling the simulation of network operational status over time. Based on the spatiotemporal distribution model for electric vehicles, the loads of electric vehicle charging are estimated. Subsequently, an optimal load shedding model is formulated to balance supply and demand. Case analysis demonstrates that the proposed approach effectively quantifies the resilience of distribution networks under extreme heat conditions, incorporating the influence of EV charging behavior.
