GaN-based Partial Power DC-DC Converter with Four-quadrant Operation Capability
Partial power processing is a promising technique for high-efficiency, high-density, and low-cost power conversion. In this paper, a bidirectional/bipolar partial power converter is proposed. A dedicated modulation scheme is developed and analyzed to enable smooth four-quadrant operation. A compact prototype utilizing Gallium Nitride (GaN) devices has been built and tested under 200V/1000W conditions. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed converter achieves a peak efficiency of nearly 99%.
