A Compact EMI Filter Design Method Based on Chaotic SVPWM in Motor Drive System
As motor drive systems evolve towards higher voltage, higher frequency, and higher power density, the issue of electromagnetic interference (EMI) becomes increasingly critical. Consequently, the size of the passive EMI filters (PEFs) used to suppress EMI tends to increase, which restricts the integration of motor drive systems. To address this issue, this paper proposes a method to reduce the volume of PEF in motor drive systems based on chaotic space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM). First, the mechanism of EMI source in the system is analyzed using the double Fourier transform method. From a mathematical perspective, the effectiveness of chaotic modulation in suppressing EMI sources is demonstrated. On this basis, the suppression effects of various chaotic SVPWM—generated by various chaotic mappings—on EMI sources are compared. Finally, the performance of these different chaotic SVPWM methods in suppressing common-mode (CM) EMI is evaluated to determine their effectiveness in reducing the size of CM EMI filters. This paper offers a novel approach for reducing the size of EMI filter and enhancing overall power density in motor drive systems.
