A Rapid Energy Storage Configuration Method for Power Systems with High Photovoltaic Penetration
At present, the high penetration of photovoltaic (PV) systems poses significant voltage regulation challenges in distribution networks. Energy storage systems (ESSs) are an important solution to the high voltage issue caused by PV integration in distribution networks. However, in engineering practice, determining the optimal installation capacity of ESS quickly and rationally remains a significant challenge. This paper first proposes a maximum penetration assessment process for photovoltaic integration, providing a basis for determining PV hosting capacity in distribution networks. Then, a rapid and practical ESS configuration method is presented. The core idea of the method is based on the voltage sensitivity matrix. By calculating the voltage sensitivity ratios at each node of the distribution network and combining a binary search strategy, the configuration capacity of the ESS is allocated rapidly. The method is validated on the IEEE 33-node distribution system, demonstrating its effectiveness in improving the voltage profile and reducing power loss in the distribution network.
