Energy Consumption Optimization of Transformers Based on Loads Layout Improvement
Nonlinear inductive loads in port power systems induce reactive power and harmonic fluctuations, while improper load distribution increases transformer capacity requirements and causes excessive active/reactive losses. As critical grid-load interfaces and, the economic operation of transformer significantly impacts port energy costs. This study proposes an improved harmony search algorithm to optimize load distribution among multiple transformers, aiming to simultaneously minimize reactive power demand and harmonic compensation capacity while maintaining transformer operation within their economic load ranges. Case studies demonstrate that the load configuration scheme optimized by the improved harmony search algorithm effectively reduces the system harmonic compensation capacity and the system energy consumption and enhancing distribution efficiency compared with the original load configuration scheme. The optimized load balancing ensures stable operation under fluctuating demands while reducing comprehensive energy consumption. This methodology provides a practical solution for improving transformer utilization and achieving energy conservation in port power systems.
