Continuous Frequency Agile Horizontally Polarized Miniature Low-UHF Loop Antenna for Iot Applications
A low profile, miniature, horizontally polarized loop antenna is proposed to work in the <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$400-450 \text{MHz}$</tex> UHF band. The wide band coverage is obtained through continuous frequency reconfiguration through varicap loaded ends of the loop. A study on miniaturization effects on performance as well as on matching loads is presented. After the optimization the proposed antenna confirms to work as a magnetic dipole with a total efficiency greater than 90 % between 400 MHz and 440 MHz.
