Enhancing Patient Safety: Fall Prevention Knowledge and Practices in Obstetrics
Falls represent a significant, yet often underrecognized, safety concern for obstetric patients, with potential adverse outcomes for both the mother and the developing fetus. This article, structured in the IMRaD format, critically examines the current state of knowledge and prevailing practices concerning fall prevention within the obstetric population. It integrates findings from existing research to elucidate the prevalence of falls, identify key risk factors, and explore the multifaceted consequences of such incidents during pregnancy. Furthermore, the article synthesizes various prevention strategies and highlights the critical need for targeted interventions and comprehensive educational initiatives. The overarching aim is to underscore the imperative of improving patient safety protocols and care quality in obstetric settings through enhanced understanding and practical application of fall prevention measures.
