Ziya Gökalp’in Alageyik Şiirini Yeniden Okuma Denemesi
Ziya Gökalp's Attempt to Re-Read the Fallow Deer PoemAbstractZiya Gökalp was an intellectual who came to the forefront as a defender of the ideology of Turkism during the years when the Turkish nation struggled to remain on the stage of history. The artist, who thought that culture and literature had also become complicated under the influence of Eastern and Western civilizations during a time when social and political life was chaotic, was of the opinion that Turkish literature, which had drifted away from folk literature, should return to this source in order to gain a national identity. In his work The Essentials of Turkism (1923), Gökalp, who gave important responsibilities to intellectuals on the subjects of culture and civilization, advised them to go especially to the people and take the culture they had, and to bring civilization to the people, and showed folk literature as a source. The author, who treated Turkish historical consciousness, national consciousness and protecting one's past as themes in his poems, used folk literature, divan and Western poetry forms as well as wrote poems in forms unique to himself. In his poem Alageyik, which he wrote in the style of a verse tale, it is seen that the artist made considerable use of folk literature products such as epics, stories, manis and rhymes in terms of form and content. In the poem Alageyik, which is perceived as a children's poem when first read, the poet, who makes suggestions about the past and the world of consciousness of the Turkish people, conveys his political thoughts in the language of verse. In this poem, in which he deals with the ideal and thought of Turan, he aims to reawaken the spirit of the Turk through a symbolic story. Keywords: Ziya Gökalp, Alageyik, Folk Literature, Folk Culture, Turkism, Fundamentals of Turkism.
