The results showed that sugar consumption (72.6%), salt (69%) and fat consumption (69%) were all in the sufficient category. The results of the study showed that there was no relationship between consumption of sugar, salt and fat and risk factors for type II DM in school-aged children at Free Methodist I Elementary School in Medan. It is hoped that schools and parents will pay attention to children's lifestyle and eating patterns and collaborate with community health centers to provide education and screening to prevent cases of DM in children from an early age.
