The article reveals some aspects of mastering F. Liszt’s piano transcriptions of F. Schubert’s songs from the vocal cycle “The Beautiful Miller’s Wife” by students of music faculties of pedagogical universities of China. The genre of piano transcription is presented in historical retrospect, its pedagogical potential is revealed. Piano transcriptions by F. Liszt are examined in comparison with the original.
