FEATURES OF EMOTIONAL SELF-REGULATION: ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH HEART RATE VARIABILITY
The article examines various aspects of emotional self-regulation and the psycho- physiological mechanisms behind it. Particular attention is paid to the energetic component of self-regulation, which reveals the role of systemic psychophysiological processes under stress and resource depletion. Heart rate variability (HRV) is considered as one of such systemic indicators. The article describes applied aspects and recovery procedures aimed at developing relevant skills using biofeedback. A multi-level dynamic model of HRV’s influence on the autonomic nervous system and hormonal regulation is proposed.
