Program Based on Assistive Technology to Develop Dyslexic Primary School Pupilsʹ EFL Reading Skills and Self-esteem

هدفت الدراسة الحالية إلى تنمية مهارات القراءة و تقدير الذات لدى تلاميذ المرحلة الابتدائية ذوي العسر القرائي باستخدام برنامج قائم على التكنولوجيا المساعدة ، وتكونت عينة الدراسة من (10 ) تلاميذ من تلاميذ الصف الثاني الابتدائى من ذوي عسر القراءة بمدرسة دفنو بنات بمحافظة الفيوم تم التعامل معهم كمجوعة واحدة. وقد تم اختيارهم بناء علي تفاوت درجاتهم في اختبار القراءة واختبار ويكسلر للذكاء .وقامت الباحثة بإعداد قائمة بمشكلات التلاميذ ذوي عسر القراءة وقائمة بمهارات القراءة في اللغة الإنجليزية واختبار لمهارات القراءة باللغة الإنجليزية ومقياس تقدير الذات و برنامج قائم على التكنولوجيا المساعدة وبعد تطبيق اختبار القراءة ومقياس تقدير الذات قبلياً وبعد استخدام البرنامج المقترح تم تطبيق ادوات الدراسة بعدياً. وكشفت النتائج عن فعالية البرنامج المقترح فى تنمية مهارات القراءة باللغة الإنجليزية و تقدير الذات لدى أفراد العينة. واقترحت الدراسة استخدام التكنولوجيا المساعدة في تدريس مهارات اللغة الإنجليزية للتلاميذ ذوي العسر القرائي. الكلمات المفتاحية: التكنولوجيا المساعدة – مهارات القراءة باللغة الإنجليزية - تقدير الذات - تلاميذ المرحلة الابتدائية ذوي العسر القرائي Abstract The current study aimed at developing dyslexic primary school pupils′ EFL reading skills and self-esteem through the use of a program based on assistive technology (AT). Participants of the study were 10 dyslexic pupils from Defino primary school for Girls at Fayoum governorate. They acted as one study group and were selected based on the discrepancy between their scores on the diagnostic test and Woxelar IQ test. The researcher prepared a checklist of dyslexic pupils' problems, an EFL reading skills checklist, an EFL reading skills test, a self-esteem scale and a program based on AT. Having pre administered the reading skills test, the self-esteem scale and taught the study group using the program based on AT, the participants were post-tested. The results showed that the use of the program based on AT proved to be effective in developing second year dyslexic primary school pupils′ EFL reading skills and self-esteem. The study suggested the use of AT in teaching EFL language skills for pupils with dyslexia. Keywords: Assistive technology, EFL reading skills, self-esteem, dyslexic primary school pupils.
