The subject of “our time”: philosophical and psychological understanding of gender-based behavioral patterns

The article provides an analytical generalization of the features of gender-based behavior. It is known that nowadays gender differences, on the one hand, are being smoothed out and become less acute, and on the other, new ways of self-perception are emerging. The masculine-feminine no longer retains the full meaning of the classical dichotomy that existed before the middle of the last century. At the same time, gender-based behavior continues to show significant differences in its forms and types, moreover, these differences tend to deepen. Against this background, we should talk about the significant dependence of the subject of “our time” on negative states: frustration, anxiety, exacerbation of ego-protective mechanisms. Conceptually and methodologically, this article connects psychoanalytic theories with existential philosophical judgments: gender differences in behavior are considered from the standpoint of the severity of the existential crisis, which for a long period of time has become a kind of basis for personality modifications. Gender-based differences are at the center of all discussions about the details of anxiety, frustration, and self-defense. The general feeling of the crisis of the slipping away of the meaning of life is represented approximately equally in the male and female worldviews.
