Facile fabrication of fluorinated SiO 2 /acrylic-polyurethane superhydrophobic coatings with enhanced anti-icing and corrosion resistance for marine environments

Conventional superhydrophobic coatings often exhibit significant limitations, including poor durability under low-temperature and unstable long-term anti-corrosion performance, which compromises their effectiveness in practical applications. This study prepares a superhydrophobic coating composed of fluorinated silica and acrylic-polyurethane via a simple spray process. The unique micro–nano structure on the coating surface generates a notable and stable air cushion effect, extending the freezing time of droplets and reducing the ice adhesion strength between the surface and ice. Additionally, the air pocket serves as a barrier, significantly enhancing the long-term corrosion resistance of the coating. The coating developed in this study provides new ideas for candidate anti-icing and anti-corrosion materials for ships.
