Challenges of Saudi Schools’ Investment in the Knowledge Economy and Their Resource Diversification Vision in Light of Leading Practices and Experiences
This analytical documentary study aimed to explore the challenges facing Saudi schools in investing within the knowledge economy and to outline a transformational vision for diversifying their resources in light of leading national and international practices. The study analyzed over sixty documents, including educational policies, Saudi Vision 2030 reports, relevant international reports, and recent literature. The research was organized into four main sections: the theoretical foundations of the knowledge economy, current challenges confronting schools, national and global best practices, and a proposed framework to enhance knowledge-based investment. Findings revealed a gap between strategic directions and actual school practices, necessitating the redesign of educational investment models, the strengthening of community and knowledge partnerships, and the development of human capital. Three primary recommendations were emphasized: granting secondary schools greater authority to implement investment initiatives, establishing technology labs and innovation centers generating revenue, and expanding partnerships with both public and private sectors to support the knowledge economy. The study also highlighted the need for future research focusing on practical mechanisms and sustainable evaluation models, enhancing the readiness of Saudi secondary schools to actively engage in the knowledge economy.///هدفت هذه الدراسة الوثائقية التحليلية إلى استكشاف التحديات التي تواجه المدارس السعودية في الاستثمار ضمن اقتصاد المعرفة، ورسم رؤية تحولية لتنويع مواردها في ضوء التجارب والممارسات الرائدة محليًا وعالميًا.
