The Image of Urbanization and the Healing of the Earth in Villa Aurore (1982) and Chanson bretonne (2020) by Le Clézio
This article aims to analyse two works written forty years apart by Le Clézio, Villa Aurore (1982) and Chanson bretonne (2020), in which the issue of the urbanisation of France appears. The goal is to examine how the transformation of natural landscapes into urban spaces influences the reactions of the narrators while questioning the notion of restorative literature. This approach is inspired by the reflections of Alexandre Gefen but proposes expanding his vision to include a biocentric perspective. A study linking ecocritical and ecopoetic approaches will be adopted to determine whether Le Clézio’s work goes beyond the simple description of the consequences of the degradation of nature and considers curative solutions aiming to heal the Earth.
