Humanos e não-humanos no ambiente acadêmico: o direito de conviver em harmonia como pauta da bioética e Educação Ambiental
The inclusion of the issue of community dogs as a topic of collective deliberation in higher education institutions was investigated through focus groups. Despite the weaknesses identified, academics, staff, and the community recognized that the presence of stray dogs can promote awareness about animal welfare and community responsibility. This scenario represents an opportunity to apply environmental education in synergy with environmental bioethics, expanding reflections on the impact of interactions between humans and non-human animals in academic spaces. The institutionalization of policies such as community dogs can strengthen this approach, encouraging more inclusive, ethical, and sustainable practices.
