A FORMALIZED MODEL OF THE SYSTEM OF SOCIOCULTURAL STEROTYPES OF MEDIA DISCUSSION IN THE USA
Introduction. In cognitive-linguistic aspect, modelling is both a means and a result of the research aimed at revealing cognitive patterns of the object under study. Formalization enables to systematize, specify and methodologically clarify the essential features of the system of sociocultural stereotypes of American media discourse. In the frame of this work, sociocultural stereotypes are considered verbalized cognitive structures that represent simplified and conventional images of individuals, groups and phenomena of American society. Represented by lexical units and syntactic structures in media texts, sociocultural stereotypes form a dynamic system of interconnected components of the US media discourse.
