Synergistic Effects of Biofertilizers and Organic Amendments on Yield and Nutrient Quality of Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.)

Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is a major oilseed crop widely cultivated in India, valued for its high nutritional content and economic importance. However, the continuous and excessive use of chemical fertilizers has contributed to declining soil fertility and has posed serious challenges to the sustainability of crop production. In response to these concerns, integrated nutrient management involving organic manures and biofertilizers has emerged as a promising, eco-friendly approach to enhance soil health and crop productivity. In this context the study was conducted with aimed to evaluate the synergistic effect of organic manures and biofertilizers on the yield parameters of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) at Agriculture Research Farm of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, during the Kharif seasons of 2022 and 2023.The experiment was Factorial Randomized Block Design with 12 treatments, including farmyard manure (FYM), neem cake, vermicompost, and their combinations with Rhizobium and phosphatesolubilizing bacteria (PSB). The results revealed that the application of Vermicompost 10t/ha + Rhizobium in T11 resulted in the highest kernel yield (3274.29 kg/ha), pod yield (4902.78 kg/ha), Halum yield (1044.90 kg/ha) and oil percentage (51.98%). The treatments also significantly influenced shelling percentage and protein content. The findings suggest that integrating organic manures with biofertilizers can substantially improve groundnut productivity while maintaining soil health, improving crop yield, and ensuring sustainable agricultural practices.
