Pollution Prevention in Thailand’s Industrial Sectors: A Comparative Analysis of Cleaner Production Techniques

This study examines pollution prevention techniques in Thailand’s industrial sectors through a comparative analysis of cleaner production methods. Focusing on the manufacturing, petrochemical, food processing, and textile industries, the research assesses the effectiveness of these techniques in reducing pollution, their economic impact, and the challenges encountered during implementation. The findings reveal that the petrochemical sector achieved the highest pollution reduction (45%) and cost savings (25%), benefiting from advanced process optimization. The manufacturing and textile sectors also showed improvements but faced challenges such as high initial costs and resistance to change. The food processing sector, while making progress in resource efficiency, experienced lower reductions and cost savings due to technical expertise requirements. Economic analysis indicates that the petrochemical sector had the shortest payback period (18 months) and highest return on investment. The study highlights the need for tailored strategies to enhance pollution prevention across different sectors, promoting sustainable industrial practices in Thailand.
