Fitness Assessment to Improve Community Health at Pimpinan Ranting ‘Aisyiyah (PRA) Sardonoharjo, Ngaglik, Sleman, Yogyakarta
ABSTRACT Women play a major role in maintaining family health, one of which is doing healthy lifestyle activities. This program of community service aims to assess fitness level and its relationship with fitness metabolic parameters on women in the organization of Islamic women (PRA Sardonoharjo, Sleman, Yogyakarta). A study involving 24 adult females was done using a field method. The intervention was standardized physical fitness testing using the Six-minute walk test (6MWT). Metabolic testing was done to check blood pressure, weight, waist circumference, random blood glucose, and physical activity using the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ). The findings showed that there was a significant relationship between physical fitness levels and blood pressure (p = 0.036), while other metabolic levels were not significantly related. Most participants showed low levels of fitness and activity. As a sustainable output, a community-based health monitoring booklet entitled “Fit Mothers, Healthy Families” was developed which incorporated the WHO recommended physical activity levels as well as self-tracking tools. This initiative shows that it is indeed possible to empower a woman to conduct health promotion at the household and community levels using simple and effective means.
