AN AYURVEDIC APPROACH TO KARSHYA IN BALAROGA: A CASE STUDY USING ASHWAGANDHA CHURNA AND SHASHTIKA SHALI PINDA SWEDA
Karshya, described in Ayurveda as a condition of extreme thinness due to Dhatukshaya (tissue depletion) and Agnimandya (poor digestion), closely aligns with undernutrition in modern medicine. This article compares the Ayurvedic understanding and management of Karshya with modern nutritional approaches. A clinical case is presented, highlighting the successful use of Brimhana (nourishing) and Rasayana (rejuvenative) therapies. The case underscores Ayurveda’s holistic approach in restoring health and weight, contrasting with modern strategies that focus on calorie and nutrient intake.
