REVIEW ON MANAGEMENT OF DIGITAL EYE STRAIN DUE TO USE OFELECTRONIC GADGETS W.S.R. TO SHUSHKAKSHIPAKA- AN AYURVEDICAPPROACH
People all over the world are using electronic devices like smartphones, computers, tablets and televisions, more and more. Both adults and children are heavily dependent on technology. However, too much time in front of a screen can have adverse effects on eye health. Long hours spent on screens can often lead to digital eye strain, commonly referred to as computer vision syndrome, causing discomfort and vision-related issues. These clinical features are pretty similar to Shushkashipaka which is one among Sarvagata Netra Rogas mentioned by Acharya Sushrutha as well as Acharya Vagbhata under Sadhya Vyadhis (treatable diseases) in Ayurveda. Netra Kriyakalpas (local eye therapies), are effective in treating various eye conditions and enhancing eye function. Research and case studies have demonstrated their efficacy in addressing issues caused by excessive use of electronic gadgets. This review article aims to explore the multifaceted Ayurvedic management of Digital Eye Strain through Netra Kriyakalpas, specifically when only ocular-visual symptoms or both ocular-visual and musculoskeletal symptoms are present.
