Generalized exfoliative dermatitis (erythroderma) due to allergic contact dermatitis
Background: Erythroderma or generalized exfoliative dermatitis, is an inflammatory skin disorder characterized by erythema on 90-100% of the body and can be accompanied by scale. Case description: A 53-year-old male patient came with complaints of itching, a white scaly rash covering the majority of his body, and peeling lips followed by pain when opening his mouth for one month. One week after using the hair color, itchy, watery pimples started to emerge on the face, and they quickly spread to the rest of the body. Dermatological examination revealed lesions on the face, trunk, right and left arms and legs, as well as hyperpigmentation and thick white scale all over the body, as well as erosions and excoriations. Hypoalbuminemia (2.7 g/dl) was discovered through blood testing. Conclusion: The diagnosis of erythroderma can be established based on history and clinical examination. Further investigation is needed to establish the etiology of erythroderma.
