Physical rehabilitation treatment in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patient: evidence from the 6-minute walk test
Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic respiratory condition significantly impacting the patient's quality of life. Shortness of breath, dizziness, weakness, and instability are the most inconvenient symptoms that progressively affect the patient, limiting their daily activities due to worsening respiratory symptoms. Case presentation: In this article, we report on a 63-year-old male patient with COPD who underwent multimodal rehabilitation regimens under supervision for a month. Outcome measurements after pulmonary rehabilitation included the 6-minute walk test, Borg scale, and the COPD assessment test (CAT) to evaluate the impact on the patient's health status. Medical rehabilitation aims to improve lung function, enhance physical activity, and alleviate respiratory symptoms. Conclusion: A medical rehabilitation program for a patient with COPD helps enhance physical activity, alleviate respiratory symptoms, and improve the patient's quality of life.
