PSI-25 Consumer-based assessment analysis of local organic beef versus grain-finished beef.

Abstract Growing concerns for animal welfare and health-conscious food choices have increased interest in alternative agricultural practices. This study evaluates consumer preferences and perceptions of locally produced organic beef versus conventional grain-finished beef in Alabama’s Black Belt region. Emphasizing purchasing behaviors and consumer satisfaction, the research employs qualitative and quantitative methods, including structured surveys, sensory panels, and focus group discussions. Key variables such as taste, texture, and perceived health benefits are analyzed to assess organic beef production’s market viability and sustainability. Findings aim to inform local producers on aligning feeding and marketing strategies with consumer expectations, supporting more ethical and sustainable meat production. Focusing on the Alabama Black Belt, this research contributes region-specific insights to the national dialogue on sustainable food systems and consumer-driven agricultural trends.
