MANAGEMENT OF EKA KUSHTA (PSORIASIS) BY SAMSHODHANA CHIKITSA – A CASE REPORT

Psoriasis is a common, chronic, recurrent, inflammatory, disfiguring, and proliferative disease of the skin. It is a papulosquamous disorder of the skin, characterised by sharply defined erythematous-squamous plaques with silvery scales. In India, approximately 1% of the population suffers from psoriasis. The exact aetiology is still unknown, but it is considered that certain environmental factors precipitate the disease in genetically predisposed individuals. Here is a case of a 45-year-old man presenting with erythematous plaques and thick silvery scales over the trunk, back, scalp, and extremities. There was no clinical or laboratory evidence of other systemic illnesses. The patient was treated on the line of Eka kushta. The patient had given Trivrut churna -3gm for virechana (purgation), Trikatu churna -3gm for dipana pachana, Panchatikta ghrita-20ml for snehapana and Somaraji taila for bahya abhyanga (external application), and the patient got significant results in both subjective and objective parameters.
