MANAGEMENT OF ACNE VULGARIS THROUGH JALAUKAVACHARANA: A CASE STUDY

Acne is currently one of the most common skin problems affecting people, often leading to reduced selfconfidence and poor quality of life. The skin ailment known as acne vulgaris is comparable to the illnesses described in Ayurvedic texts as Yavanapidika or Mukhadushika. Both inflammatory (papules, pustules, and nodules) and non-inflammatory (open and closed comedones) lesions are characteristics of acne vulgaris, a disorder that affects the pilosebaceous follicle. The four primary factors that lead to the development of the condition are inflammation, microbial involvement, sebum production, and pilosebaceous duct cornification. Mukhadushika is one of the skin conditions listed under "Kshudra Rogas" by Acharya Sushruta. These facial breakouts are often rooted in imbalances of Vata, Pitta, Kapha, Rasa, and Rakta doshas, according to Ayurvedic evaluations. Both Shodhana Chikitsa and Shamana Chikitsa are used in the treatment of Mukhadushika. Acharya Sushruta considered Raktamokshana to be both Shodhana Chikitsa and Chikitsaardha. The patient in this case study received Raktamokshana by Jalaukavacharana as Shodhana chikitsa and several Shamana Yogas. The combination of therapies resulted in a significant reduction in acne lesions, an improvement in skin texture and enhanced patient satisfaction, all achieved without any adverse effects.
