MANAGEMENT OF KITIBHA KUSTA WITH AYURVEDA -A CASE REPORT

In Ayurveda, the term Kushta refers to various skin disorders, encompassing major skin diseases such as psoriasis and other related skin conditions. Kitibha Kushta is a type of Kshudra Kushta, primarily characterised by the vitiation of Vata and Kapha doshas. Its clinical features include a dull, dark appearance of the skin, rough texture and a dry nature, resembling the symptoms of psoriasis. Current treatment methods have their limitations and can cause various side effects. According to Ayurveda, psoriasis is best treated by adapting Shodhana (purification) and Shamana (palliative) therapies. In the present case, the patient is experiencing scaly skin lesions throughout the body, accompanied by itching, irritation, discolouration, and a burning sensation—symptoms indicative of Tridosha vitiation and tissue involvement. Therefore, a combination of Shodhana and Shamana therapies is planned for treatment.
