EXPLORING AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT IN BALATISARA WITH – A CASE REPORT
Atisara, in Ayurveda, can be correlated with diarrhoea, where 'Ati' means excess & 'Saranam' means flow; a condition characterised by the passage of watery stools in excess with high speed. In Ayurvedic science, the primary cause of Atisara is agni dushti, and the primary source of Agni is Grahani. It is between amashaya and pakwashaya. Atisara not only affects the health of children but is also considered responsible for infant mortali-ty, especially in tropical and sub-tropical countries. According to Ayurveda, Atisara can be classified into seven categories: Vataja, Pittaja, Kaphaja, Bhayaja, Tridoshaja, Shokaja, and Raktatisara. A 10-year-old male patient visited the OPD of kaumarbhritya at Yashwantrao Chavan Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital, Chh. Sam-bhajinagar with complaints of Sadravamalpravritti (3-5 watery stools/day), Kshudhahani (loss of appetite), Daurbalya (weakness) & Udara shoola (mild abdominal pain) for 10 days. At Yashwantrao Chavan Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital, he was diagnosed with Balatisara and treated with Balchaturbhadra Churna BD / TDS. The main objective was to treat the disease with Deepana, Pachana, Grahi and Sthambaka medications. No adverse effects were reported. This study suggests that Ayurvedic management of Balatisara, which shows similarities with diarrhoea in children, yields effective results.
