MANAGING ANIDRA WITH AROMATHERAPY USING SHATAPATRI ESSENTIALOIL: A CLINICAL CASE APPROACH.

Anidra is a Vata-pitta predominant condition resulting from the imbalance of Prana Vayu, Tarpaka Kapha and Sadhaka Pitta, often triggered by factors like excessive stress, emotional disturbances, and irregular lifestyle. This case report presents a 48-year-old female suffering from insomnia for two years, with associated symptoms like fatigue, heaviness in the head, and low enthusiasm. Clinical examination and Ayurvedic assessment confirmed the diagnosis of Anidra caused by Atichinta and emotional stress. Aromatherapy using Shatapatri Pushpa (Rosa damascena, mill) essential oil was selected as a holistic intervention, based on Acharya Charaka’s reference to Manaso anuguna gandha. The therapy was administered via inhalation for 7 days and evaluated using the Insomnia Severity Index and Athens Insomnia Scale. Significant improvement in sleep quality, reduction in daytime symptoms, and better overall well-being were observed, indicating the effectiveness of aromatherapy in managing Anidra.
