Trends in research on risk factors in domestic violence

Domestic violence is defined as a form of aggression that has the capacity to affect the physical, mental, and social health of individuals and their environment. In order to comprehend this issue, it is necessary to analyze both the observable consequences and the underlying conditions that give rise to it. This research identifies research trends on risk factors linked to the phenomenon through a systematic review based on the PRISMA 2020 methodology, which allows for the organisation of existing knowledge and its examination in terms of evolution. The analysis recognizes that scientific production on this topic presents gaps, inequalities, and fragmented approaches, which hinders a comprehensive understanding. The study also demonstrates that knowledge is not generated equitably, as it is contingent on specific geographical, theoretical, and methodological contexts. The recognition of these dynamics facilitates the proposal of new research avenues that respond to diverse realities and contribute to improved decision-making. The identification of trends is not merely a descriptive exercise, but rather a critical action that guides the development of more effective public policies for the prevention of domestic violence.
