VALIDAÇÃO DA APLICAÇÃO DE SENSORIAMENTO REMOTO PARA ESTIMATIVA DE ESTOQUE E SEQUESTRO DE CARBONO NA CULTURA CANAVIEIRA: ESTUDO DE CASO
ABSTRACT: The spatial transformation of landscape in the Brazilian Cerrado with the advent of the demographic territorial growth that was strengthened during the twentieth century with the various conjectures that underpin the development and regional growth, in this environment stands out the canevieira culture. The favorable environmental suitability for the cultivation of sugarcane transformed Brazil into the largest sugar producer and the second largest producer of ethanol in the world, with a high relevance in the trade balance and with great economic prominence in the results, both of production flow and of the country’s capital. The adoption of remote sensing techniques for the measurement by Spectral Indexes for estimation of biomass, inventory and carbon sequestration in the monitoring of the crop aggregate environmental value in the validation and reduction of emission values of Greenhouse Gases, as a goal to discriminate the different cultivated areas, by setting them by the Index of Vegetation in the calculation of carbon stocks in the culture in the municipality of São Manuel – SP, through images of the satellite Landsat 8 were generated the vegetation indices: NDVI, PRI, CO2flux, IAF and SAVI-based methodology proposed by various authors. The analyzes of the indices presented the expected results, because in São Manuel, large areas had values greater or equal to the values presented in the validation areas, where there was presence of the sugarcane crop and, with this, it can be indicated that the application and use of indices in the measurement of biomass and carbon sequestration in the monitoring and temporal analysis of the crop is valid
