Measurement of Work Burnout Levels Among Professionals Working with Individuals with Special Needs

One of the challenges faced by professionals working with individuals with special needs is work burnout, which affects their physical, professional, and emotional well-being. In addition to the demanding nature of their work, these professionals also experience high emotional and psychological burdens, leading to continuous exhaustion and, ultimately, burnout. Various factors contribute to this phenomenon, including the work environment, institutional obligations, and difficult relationships with families, all of which can impact work effectiveness and the quality of services provided. Measuring burnout is essential to understanding the current situation of professionals in this field and provides a basis for further studies to identify the contributing factors. This, in turn, enables institutions and responsible service providers to intervene through training or professional support, thereby reducing the factors that contribute to burnout. The study was conducted in Albania with a group of professionals working in residential centers, inclusive schools, and therapeutic services.
