FUNCTIONAL MODELLING OF THE LAYOUT PROCESS

The article discusses the functional modelling of the book layout process using the IDEF0 methodology. It also emphasises the importance of clear structuring of the layout stages to ensure high quality of printed products. The construction of a hierarchical model allows us to display in detail the sequence of actions -from the preparation of materials to the final layout. The paper presents a graphical representation of the process in the form of diagrams A-0 and A0, which demonstrate the relationships between functional blocks, input data, implementation mechanisms and outputs.Particular attention is paid to the factors that affect the quality of layout: compliance with standards, consideration of reader demand, age characteristics of the target audience, staff competence and the use of modern software. The proposed model describes the system functions, processes and their interrelationships, which allows organising work consistently and efficiently, ensuring the required level of quality. The IDEF (Integrated DEFinition) methodology is a family of standards for modelling and describing complex systems, covering functional, information, object-oriented modelling, data modelling, simulation, description of interface requirements and other aspects of organisational activities. The most widely used methodology is IDEF0, which is designed to graphically describe the functions and processes of an organisation in the form of interconnected blocks and flows of information, materials and resources.IDEF0 is based on a hierarchical structure of diagrams: the context diagram shows the system as a whole, and further decomposition allows you to detail individual functions to the desired level. The context of the model is a publishing company, and the point of view is the optimisation of the layout process, taking into account the key factors affecting quality. The creation of a hierarchical diagram system allows you to divide a complex process into separate components and achieve the necessary level of detail to fully describe all stages of the layout. The results of the study can be used to automate publishing processes, create expert systems and implement intelligent technologies for managing the quality of book publications.
