ENGLISHMEN'S DEPARTURES TO RUSSIA "TO THE NAME OF THE SOVEREIGN" IN THE 17TH CENTURY
This article serves as a preface to the miscellany's section devoted to the anthropological studies of the Russian-English relations in the 16th–19th centuries. It includes an overview of the works published therein. The article also examines the specifics of contacts between Russia and England in the 17th century. Using archival material (RGADA. F. 150 "Departure of Foreigners to Russia"), it estimates the number of British subjects of various professions (jewelers, engineers, people of medical profession, merchants, and military personnel) who arrived in Russia.
