Performance of RBI 81 Stabilized with Moorum: Granulometric and Plasticity Characteristics of Subgrade Materials

This study investigates the performance characteristics of RBI Grade 81 stabilized with moorum, focusing on granulometric composition and plasticity index variations.RBI Grade 81, a chemical soil stabilizer, is increasingly used in road construction to enhance the strength and durability of subgrade soils.Moorum, a naturally occurring lateritic gravel, is evaluated as a local stabilizing agent due to its favorable gradation properties. The experimental analysis examines changes in grain size distribution, Atterberg limits, and plasticity index when moorum is blended with RBI Grade 81 at varying proportions. Results indicate a significant improvement in particle size gradation and a reduction in plasticity index, suggesting enhanced workability and stability of the treated soil. These findings support the effective use of moorum in conjunction with RBI Grade 81 for sustainable and cost-effective soil stabilization in infrastructure projects.
