Human vs AI: What constitutes true intelligence for international entrepreneurship

This study investigates how the alignment between human and artificial intelligence influences the intention to pursue international entrepreneurship among university students. Building on the Entrepreneurial Event Model and theories of human–computer interaction, we conceptualize global mindset as a form of human cognitive capacity and perceived value of artificial intelligence as an indicator of trust in technological support. Data were collected from 336 undergraduate students enrolled in internationally focused programs at Vietnamese universities. Using polynomial regression and response surface analysis, the findings reveal that students who possess both a strong global mindset and a high valuation of artificial intelligence are more likely to perceive international entrepreneurship as desirable and feasible and therefore report stronger entrepreneurial intentions. Notably, perceived feasibility was particularly affected by imbalances between a global mindset and artificial intelligence valuation. Further mediation analysis confirms that the influence of this human–technology alignment on entrepreneurial intention is transmitted through students’ cognitive evaluations of opportunity attractiveness and personal capability. By integrating dual cognitive inputs into a well-established theoretical framework, this study offers new insights into how global orientation and digital trust jointly shape international entrepreneurial aspirations. Implications are discussed for entrepreneurship education, technological preparedness, and support policy.
