Yogic farming practices: The sustainable approach for agriculture development
Present paper provides a comprehensive analysis of the historical evolution, current practices, and future directions of agriculture, with a particular focus on the innovative concept of yogic farming. Tracing the development of agriculture from ancient subsistence systems through the Neolithic and Green revolutions to the advent of precision and sustainable agriculture, the paper highlights the technological, ecological, and socio-cultural transformations that have shaped global food systems. Special emphasis is placed on the Indian context, detailing the transition from Vedic traditions to post-independence modernization and the integration of environmentally conscious practices. The review critically compares traditional, organic, and conservation-based methods with emerging approaches such as regenerative and climate-smart agriculture. Central to the paper is the examination of yogic farming, a method pioneered by the Brahma Kumaris, which integrates organic techniques with meditation and positive thought projection to purportedly enhance seed vitality, crop health, and farmer well-being. The review evaluates yogic farming against conventional and organic systems in terms of ecological sustainability, productivity, and holistic development. By synthesizing global and Indian perspectives, this paper aims to assess the scientific and social viability of yogic farming as a model for resilient, sustainable, and inclusive agricultural.
