Patients in the face of innovative solutions for monitoring the state of health on the example of telemetric monitoring of heart rhythm

The aim of the article is to identify the attitudes of consumers (patients) towards management solutions based on innovative organizational and technological solutions in the process of monitoring the health of a patient with heart failure. The article has been prepared on the basis of the literature on the subject and the results of direct research carried out with the help of a questionnaire distributed to patients covered by the study entitled: Improvement of the health of patients with heart failure through the pilot implementation of telemedicine services in the Upper Silesian Medical Center in Katowice. The research was concerned with—amongst other things—selected elements of patients’ behaviour and their opinions on the innovative method of health monitoring. Modern technologies allow medical personnel to be supported in the process of diagnosing the disease and planning its treatment. More and more often, they also allow for monitoring the condition of a patient outside the medical facility and—what is particularly important—for a relatively quick response in a situation where his health and life are at risk. They provide reliable and objective information about the patient’s health between follow-up visits. The effectiveness of the implemented solutions depends to a large extent on the patient attitudes, their openness to new solutions and willingness to cooperate with medical personnel.
