Employees’ health diversity as a source of value in organizations
The present article discusses the issue of health diversity in context of human resources in organizations, which is becoming an important element of the organizational management. Taking diversity—including employees’ health diversity—into consideration provides value to the organisation not only by enabling all employees to perform their duties, but also by fostering a culture of inclusiveness, openness and mutual understanding. Employees’ health diversity—which includes employees with different health conditions—requires, at first, appropriate adjustment solutions, which are crucial for the proper performance of duties and, as the consequence, the achievement of organizational goals. The study focuses on awareness, acceptance and sensitivity to employees’ health diversity, which affect organizational performance and minimize the risk of potential errors by influencing the attitudes and behaviour of all employees in the organisation. In order for an organization to use it effectively, it is important to increase awareness, acceptance and sensitivity to this diversity are a source of value for the organization. These elements affect organizational performance and reduce errors, ensuring business continuity. However, there is a lack of studies that comprehensively analyze the impact of employees’ health diversity on organizational performance, which is a research gap in the management and quality sciences. The purpose of this article is to theoretically analyze the literature and present a model of impact mechanism of the attitudes toward employees’ health diversity on organizational performance and reliability. The proposed model takes into account various components connected to health diversity, such as awareness, sensitivity, acceptance, proactivity, work motivation, job satisfaction, work engagement, organizational commitment and fit on various levels (person—job, person—group, person—organization), highlighting the broad value of employees’ health diversity in organizations.
