Masculinidade malpassada: churrasqueiras, próteses de gênero e espaço doméstico
This paper aims to present a case study that highlights the complex relationships between domesticity and gender: the domestic space dedicated to the barbecue grill, a setting gendered and coded as masculine – contrasting with the kitchen, typically coded as a feminine environment. Although these two spaces share similar functions, preparing and serving food, they can be marked by gender-specific features, including adornments that act as “gender prosthetics”, according to Paul B. Preciado’s theory. This study seeks to analyze one of these decorative (and functional) objects, here regarded as a masculinity prosthesis, considering both its symbolic and material aspects.
