Design and simulation-based optimization of an ion optical focusing structure for a chip-scale time-of-flight mass spectrometer
To address the challenges of ion divergence and low transmission efficiency during ion transport in miniature time-of-flight mass spectrometers (TOF-MS), which severely degrade sensitivity and other performance metrics, an ion optical focusing structure was designed. Through simulation and computational analysis, optimal electrical parameters were determined to effectively reduce ion divergence angles and enhance transmission efficiency. Experimental verification demonstrated that the ion transmission efficiency increased by over 35% when utilizing electrostatic lens focusing. This study provides valuable insights and practical guidance for the design of ion transmission structures and the optimization of electrical parameters in micro mass spectrometers.
