An audit of equity of access in an Older Person’s mental health services
The aim of this audit is to assess whether service users of an Older Adult Community Treatment Team (CTT) and Psychology service are representative of the general population of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and North Tyneside in the north-east of England, and as such whether equitable care is provided by the service. An audit of recorded information (age, sex, ethnicity) on the electronic recording system evaluated whether service users were representative of the general population. To assess equity, protected characteristics of service users were compared to prevalence in general population. If specific groups are not well-represented in service, this allows for the opportunity to explore possible internal and/or external barriers to accessing Older Peoples mental health services across Newcastle and North Tyneside.
