Mental health and wellbeing practitioners and wellbeing-focused psychologically informed intervention: Pitfalls and possibilities in the Older People Community Mental Health Team
As part of the NHS long-term plan, Health Education England (HEE) introduced several new roles to increase the workforce in secondary care community mental health settings, including the role of Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner (MHWP). This article is a reflective account which explores the role of MHWPs in delivering psychologically informed interventions within an Older People’s Community Mental Health Team (OP CMHT). Some key challenges of the delivery of psychologically informed interventions for people with severe mental illness (SMI) are identified, along with opportunities MHWPs can bring to OP CMHT.
