129I measurements with a compact AMS facility at CIAE
A compact accelerator mass spectrometer (AMS) facility was developed by the China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE). In this paper we present the performance of this facility in 129 I measurements. The maximum transmission efficiency for 127 I 2+ is 55 %, while a value of 46 % is adopted in practice for reliable 129 I measurements. The theoretical upper limit for the 129 I/ 127 I ratio is 1.5 × 10 −14 . The method of 129 I measurements is validated with a series of samples in ranges of known 129 I/ 127 I ratios.
