Neutron Diffraction Study of the Magnetic Structure of Sr2FeMoO6–δ

Neutron diffraction study of Sr2FeMoO6–δ ceramic with double perovskite structure and different amount of cation superstructure ordering has been performed in wide temperature region. Molybdenum-oxygen octahedrons remain stable for the most ordered sample with the increase of temperature, whereas samples with lower superstructure ordering demonstrate high temperature distortions. Iron-oxygen octahedron is always symmetric for the most ordered sample but more distorted for the less superstructure ordered compounds. A temperature increase above Curie temperature leads to increase of Mo–O distortions. The magnetic structure consists of ferromagnetically ordered in bc plane Fe ions and ferromagnetically ordered in ac plane Mo ions.
