The Association Between Depression and OGM

OGM (Overgeneral Autobiographical Memory) is a phenomenon that causes an individual to recall less detailed memories and instead remember general occurrences. This circumstance is often associated with depression; thus, this review aims to elucidate the relationship between the two. The findings deduced that OGM is a predictor of depression. However, further research is needed to concretely state these findings, as several limitations were present in the articles, such as differing versions of questionnaires and varied levels of depression within subjects. A better understanding of the correlation between OGM and depression can allow researchers to improve treatments and possibly prevent depression.
