A contribuição dos Meios Aeroespaciais Brasileiros para a Manutenção da Paz

In 2017, Brazil offered the UN three air capabilities for use in peacekeeping operations, through the UN Capabilities and Readiness System. The offer presented the unprecedented possibility of deploying aerospace resources in a Peace Operation. Due to this paradigm, the present work aims to analyze how the capacity of the Brazilian Air Force's aerospace assets, in the event of deployment for a Peace Operation, can contribute to the peacekeeping at the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). To achieve the objective, the methodology applied began with bibliographical research, which served to guide the documentary research and the interview with flying officers participating in the UNMISS. Furthermore, the data collected made it possible to relate current employment possibilities with the capabilities of the Brazilian aircraft offered, resulting in the convergence of possible contributions. Thus, it was possible to co7nclude that the FAB's aerospace assets deployed in peace operations will be able to contribute to the fulfillment of the UNMISS mandate when used in Logistics Air Transport, Aeromedical Evacuation, Aerial Surveillance, Aerospace Reconnaissance and Combat Search and Rescue. The identification of these contribution possibilities makes it possible to improve the maintenance of the preparation of aerospace resources, as well as to guide the analysis of future offers of aerospace resources.
